It seems to be one hour show allright. I found this log:
http://www.jjonz.us/RadioLogs/pagesnfiles/logs_files/1950s/1957/57_12Dec/%5Bw%5D57-12-13-%28Fri%29.pdf
The commercials seem to be missing. That would account for the missing 15 minutes.
Thanks for the upload.
Can't wait till download is finished.

Back then commercials took up less time during the program than they do now. Most modern one hour programs nowadays are filled with about 17 total minutes of commercials. Daytime programming may have been a different story, though. This particular program as I've uploaded it has a running time of just over 39 minutes. If it is complete, then that would mean there would be a total of over twenty minutes of commercials during that hour. I don't know what the standards were back then as far as how many commercials would have been run on daytime programming back then, but according to your link this WAS a one hour show.

The other version of the Climax "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" that I uploaded the other day, which was released on DVD by Alpha video, runs for just over 40 mins. The only things that are cut out of the Alpha video version are the host intro, pre-filmed and live ads and the promo for an upcoming show.

Many of the live shows had quite a few ads. I know the Studio One programs usually had at least three ad segments varying from 4 to 7 minutes in length. It wouldn't be unusual for the shortened version of Matinee Theatre to only be missing the sponsor and network promos.

Thanks also to you, V-C, for letting us know that these two old shows were okay to put on the IA. I just wish I had more material like this to share.

Watching Matinee Theatre again, IMHO it does seem like a complete story, despite the somewhat short running time.

You're welcome. It is great to see these shows. Thanks for sharing them.

I agree that the Matinee Theater one is probably the full show without the ads. I don't think its that unusual for an hour show to have 20 mins of ads and promos. I swear I have seen some Studio Ones were Betty Furness gets more screen time than the lead actors in the play.
